MISSION STATEMENT

Peaceful Gardens and Charitable Temples is a public charity, created to provide emergency services to men, women, and children who are international refugees of war and/or survivors of domestic violence.  Our public charitable, religious organization provides healthy food, clothing, medicine, and/or temporary shelter.  We are grateful to be morally supported, not financially (yet,) by other non profit organizations and churches; we alleviate suffering through prayer for peace, non-violence, and on-discrimination at our temple and with people of many faiths worldwide.  Since we are a newly founded organization, we must raise funds by applying for grants providing general operational expenses for a shelter space for residents to eat, sleep, recover, pray, and some may also choose to work.  Residents who especially love our organization might choose to work with us and stay long term.  We have already hired a few employees.  We have many partners waiting to partner with us such as PETCO , a huge pet store franchise, and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, a department in the department of labor, government workers who helps disabled folks find jobs they can do.  Two domestic violence shelters in other towns nearby have discussed the possibility of our sharing emails and phone calls in regards to referring clients to each other should one shelter become too full.

Our History

The Director of Peaceful Gardens and Charitable Temples, Johanna, is a domestic violence survivor of what she describes as an attempted murder on her life.

She still suffers from seizures, nightmares, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, phobias of being in public, but worse is the traumatic brain injury, including problems with memory, panic attacks, and anger management.  Despite all of this, her IQ was never effected by the multiple concussions and fractures she suffered, not to mention all the cuts and bruises, as well as the sexual and emotional abuse.  She was the victim of many hate crimes, which drew the attention of police and even the FBI.  She has spent years at home studying civil law and has represented herself in district as well as civil courts of law.  She is a single mother of two children, one of which she teaches at home-school.

She graduated with a masters degree of Teaching English as a Second Language from Hawaii Pacific University with recommendations from the Dean of International Studies and many of her supervisors and professors.  She has worked abroad teaching and helping refugees so far in seven countries for twenty years.  She has been an active leader of classrooms in public schools, private schools, churches, and other religious ceremonies and events.  She says that God sent her a dream on the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr, letting her know that he had chosen this work for her to do, as director of this organization.  The dream included the testimony of a female survivor of domestic violence looking beautiful, prayer by Jewish rabbis, and Buddhist monks with swords.  Much like Noah who built the arc, Johanna knows that without organizations like ours, in a world filled with chaos, the arc might become the next Deep Water Horizon.  Please become a member today to help us achieve our dreams of a brighter America together.

What we do

Religion

PGCT attends and conducts regular prayer services for the purpose of peace; prayer service  could include bible study, exchange of testimony, meditation, reflection, and ceremony.  The religious leader and course of study will depend on the religious preference of each and every resident.  Sexist, racist, or hateful testimony is not allowed.  Equal rights  between genders, non-discrimination and love is promoted by our organization.  PGCT may conduct missionary work abroad or request help from the United Nations, the Dept. of Labor, companies who may wish to partner with us, donations from celebrities who support our cause, other non-profits such as the United Way or the Red Cross, other domestic violence shelters, and other churches, temples, or tribes.  Anyone from any religious background is welcome so long as you are peaceful and act in good faith.

Education

PGCT offers tutoring by qualified teachers to low income or special needs children who are behind or struggling in school because of trauma in the home or bullying at school.  Keeping these kids away from violent homes or classrooms helps prevent child abuse.  We will require female survivors of domestic violence to agree to our thirty day program, which includes free self defense classes, taught by teachers trained in martial arts.  In conclusion, Peaceful Gardens and Charitable Temples is organized so that prevention of domestic violence and child abuse occurs as a direct result of our educational and charitable efforts, and so that hate crimes are prevented and handled ethically as a result of our religious work.
